World's Biggest Spur

September 12, 2016 in roadside

You couldn't miss it even if you tried!  We actually came across this roadside oddity while driving through Lampasas on our way to Marble Falls.  I couldn't help it but stop.  This giant spur is located in the parking lot of a real estate office (Texas Real Estate Sales) in Lampasas, TX southbound off highway 281.  35 feet tall and 20 feet wide, the spur itself weighs 10,000 pounds and is supported on 40,000 pounds of concrete.  Commissioned by the owner of the real estate office, Leah Caruthers, it was build by artist Wayland Dobbs.  It is currently going through the process of getting verified by the Guiness  World Records as the worlds largest spur.

In the same lot there is a dog groomer/boarding house.  Found this punk rock pooch running around the yard.  I wonder if the owner matches the dog!
